The Ten Years of Ikusmira Berriak cycle, jointly organised by the Festival, Tabakalera and Elias Querejeta Zine Eskola, proposes an exploration and celebration, in retrospect, of the ten years of the Ikusmira Berriak film residency. This session will feature a screening of the feature film El agua (2022), directed by Elena López Riera.
Synopsis: It's summer in a small village in south-eastern Spain. A storm threatens to cause the river running through it to overflow yet again. According to popular belief, a number of women have the water inside and are predestined to disappear with each new flood. Ana lives with her mother and her grandmother in a house eyed with suspicion by the other locals. In this electric atmosphere preceding the rain, Ana meets José as she struggles to banish her ghosts.
**This session is part of the 'Cinema and Music' cycle. ISLA KUME will perform live, on the screening of the film, his music for El agua.
ISLA KUME is the sonic universe of Laura Sorribas and Andrés Campos, a fusion that shakes everything up with passionate lyrics and an avant-garde sound. Their ambition to explore new sounds and narratives without any limits has created the explosive combo of this duo of producers, multi-instrumentalists, and singers.
Electronic. Hip hop. Pop. Maybe none, or perhaps all of them at once. A space where emotions, intimacy, love and heartbreak, and the lights and shadows of the world beyond our island become subjects of exploration, redefinition, and embrace.
