The residency takes place in Tabakalera, a pioneering cultural project, the only one of its kind in the world, housing the Tabakalera Centre for Contemporary Culture, the San Sebastian International Film Festival, the Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola international centre for thought, research, experimental practice and pedagogical innovation and a national film archive, the Filmoteca Vasca.
A 7-month programme designed according to an innovative formula in the shape of a residency divided into two stays of different lengths.
The institutions running the programme share three strategic initiatives: training in and conveying knowledge of filmmaking; the search for, accompaniment and development of new talents; and research, cinematic thought and dissemination from the two-pronged professional approach of theory and academic learning.
The filmmakers benefit from the spaces and services offered by the institutions housed in Tabakalera and from all of the activities and programmes: cinemas, labs, exhibition galleries, film collections, specialised libraries, workspaces, professionals and institutions located in the building.
